Hi folks!
If anybody has access to Piece 5325 of the 1871 Census, I would really
appreciate a look-up for the Davies folks on the following page:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
>From 1871 Index - PRO Ref RG10 - Piece 5325 - Folio 046 - Page 06
MON - ED: Bedwellty - SD: Tredegar - Hamlet: Manmoel (Ebbw Vale)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
DAVIS David 28
DAVIS Sarah 24
DAVIS Sarah A 04
DAVIS Hannah 02
DAVIS Jane 1m
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The family was at 6 Armoury Row in 1881, and (as DAVIES) at 8 Armoury Row in
1891 & 1901.
x Kate.
PS Oh bu**er! My WINSTON(E)s are missing from the 1871 Census (Index) of
Bedwellty RD.
If anyone comes across Elizabeth (23, born Bedwellty) with daughters
Elizabeth (4, born Tredegar) & Sarah (1, born Tredegar) hiding elsewhere in
1871, please put me out of my misery!
Hello List
Interested to hear from anyone with any information on Thomas or his family living in Pontypool in the decades either side of 1850,

Hello Alison,
William PRICE was not born there, but the marriage was listed as Builth.
Ann Williams is listed as being born in Brecknock according to the census.

Hello List
Does anyone have access to the 1871 census for Ebbw Vale?
If so I'd appreciate a look-up for this couple who would be aged 23/28 (John) and 18 (Catherine) if, they were indeed married at that time (can't be sure - maybe later in '71 than the census)

Hi Bonnie,
When I said "quite a few", I meant there are 53 Leonards listed in 1861.
Can you give me anything else to narrow it down a little. Such as: there
are several from Ireland, a few from Monmouthsire, etc. Are you looking at
any particular area of birth?

Hello Jim
The name looks to me like "Zephaniah" which was fairly popular in those times. I then
checked with the Gwent FHS index and they have also come to the same conclusion.
Some guesses at Birthplaces: Jenkin - Llangynith, Llanygwaith ??
Gwenllian - Llanthety, Llanthedy ??

Hi Elsie, many thanks for your help in this matter, I'll have to keep this
info on hold for the time being as our COLEMANs are an elusive lot. We have
no details on dates except for a marriage of 8/7/1872 in Tredegar of a
marriage between our Mary Ann(e) and a William SMITH, but simply cannot find
it in the St Caths at all, and we don't know where in Tredegar. Again, many
thanks for your help, kind regards Mick

Hi Alison,
What type of records do you have for Builth Wells? I believe my GGGparents
marriage was in Builth.
My GGGM, Ann WILLIAMS said she was born there c1831 according to the
census'. I think they were married there around 1854. My GGGF was William
PRICE.

Hi Mick,
I only found one Mary Ann COLEMAN, age 5 living at Cardiff Road 68 in
Fforchaman.
Parents are Henry age 32 a fireman in coal pit
Mother Gwinifred age 30
Sister Margaret age 10
Sister Elizabeth age 2
I know the parents are wrong on this one, but it may fit somewhere in your
line. There are quite a few COLEMAN's in Glamorgan.

Dear Elvery,
What are the names/dates for your Davies ancestors of Tredegar please? My
great-grandparents were , David DAVIES, bc1824, Tredegar, and Elizabeth
(nee Mason), bc1829, in Cardiganshire.

I've had quite a time trying to decipher the handwriting for the 1851
Aberystruth census return, District 578/5; ED 9, page 41; Dwelling 135.
This is of course the Blaina area and the family in question is that of
Jenkin DAVIES. I'm trying to determine the birthplace of both Jenkin
and his wife Gwenllian, and the name of their 4th listed child, a son.
Both Jenkin and Gwenllian were born in Brecon, but I can't decipher
the names of their respective parishes of birth. Their children were all
born in Aberystruth:
Jenkin DAVIES, 54, head, Coal Miner, b. Brecon, Ll????
Gwenllian, 48, wife, b. Brecon, Ll????
Henry, 26, son, Coal Miner, b. Mon, Aberystruth
Thomas, 22, son, Coal Miner, b. Mon, Aberystruth
Catherine, 19, daughter, Laboring out Door, b. Mon, Aberystruth
???????, 14, son, Coal Miner, b. Aberystruth
Margaret, 9, daughter, b. Mon, Aberystruth
The 1841 census doesn't help a bit with the son's name. Even worse
handwriting. It seems to be a characteristically Welsh given name.
I don't know if there is any transcribed records for this census, but
would dearly love to determine those parishes and the son's name. Can
anyone help, please?
Thank you,
Jim Ball
Please take me off your list

As a new subscriber I would like to let people know that I am researching the NELMES & DAVIES (lived in Rhyd Cottages until 1953) families in Tredegar. Is there anyone who could let me know what is inscribed on my grandfather's (Robert William NELMES d.1953) head stone in Cefn Golau (I think that's how it's spelled)? Also can anyone tell me if it's likely his or my grandmother's (Sarah NELMES d. 1948) obits would be in the archives of any papers.

I am hoping someone can help me with the following please:
Does anyone have a Williams family tree with the names below:
Edward Williams (Ted) and his wife Minnie - they lived on a dairy farm in the Christchurch, Newport.
I am researching the name of Richardson and on a visit to Canada recently was told there was some connection
with this family in the early 1900s.
Any help much appreciated.
