Could some one enlighten me as to whether Llangenny was a Parish as well as
a village in 1798. Or was it part of some other parish. I think it's now in
Powys but thought someone on this list might know about it.
Thanks

Hello again
I feel rather foolish as I had my names & facts wrong
in the last e-mail I sent. So here goes again....
I'm still looking for any connection to
Edmunds/Edmonds etc, but it was the Andrews family who
gave the bells to Llanhilleth church and I was
wondering if anyone is researching Andrews in that
area. So er..2 names there....
Thanks!
Regards, Sophie in London

Dear List
looking for anyone who may be researching the CROSS surname in Blaina and Six Bells in the nineteenth century. I know of their whereabouts in the 1881 census at Cwmcelyn Blaina, but after that I do not know their whereabouts but know that they did go to Six Bells. They are not on the 1891 census for Six Bells though?

Sorry Irene, I don't have the 1881 Census (yet!), but plenty of other folks
on this and other rootsweb mailing lists do.
If you have any birth-dates or approximate ages, names of other family
members, possible places of birth or locations at the time of the census,
even occupation details, that would help people enormously, to narrow down
the list of possible men for your William Perry.

Hi List,
Could SKS please point me in the right direction? I have a birth cert. dated 25th April, 1860 for Elizabeth Challenger daughter of Henry & Emma Challenger nee Walker. Henry was an Iron Miner and the address given is:-
Dukes Town, Llangunider. The Registration District is Llangunider, County of Brecon. Am I right in thinking this is Dukestown near Tredegar?
Also, is there an index for the 1861 census for this area? Emma appears as a widow in the 1881 index.
Finally (a long shot but), do the names of either parents (they are my 2xg,grandparents) mean anything to anyone on this list?
Many thanks in hopeful anticipation,
Louise
Sophie,
Not *our* James...........
Damn!! So, *where* was he born and when!! Shall have to go back and look at
the indexes and see what can be found around 1852. I'm assuming you have
done this yourself recently. Don't think I got around to looking at 1852
births, won't hurt to have another perspective.....entries are easy to miss.
Might be worth also looking for a Richard James, just in case they swapped
his names around for some reason.
I got tied up in sone Scottish stuff again, so haven't looked any furthur on
this line. I'm thrying to write my side of the family up in a book and its
taking up a fair swag of my free time. I'm finding I need to do so much more
research to make it interesting and readable.

Hello Hugh,
I saw this message you posted to Marjorie and got a shiver! I believe this
may be my GGGF, after the death of his wife Mary nee Lloyd and the marriage
of his daughter Elizabeth, married Edward Boyle. I there any way to check
the 1851 census to see if they were at the same address? Any suggestions or
assistance would be greatly appreciated, as I really never thought I'd get a
clue, name being Jones:>
