Hello to all from America. Recent events have me thinking of family and I need some help tracking my grandfather's side. Looking for place of birth for :
Cyril Bevan born 25 May 1911, in or near Abertillery, Wales
and traveled to America by ship around 1924-1926. Looking for name of ship. I do not know port of entry into U.S. but he settled in Pennsylvania.
Also looking for informatin about his wife
Ruth Bevan born Ruth Ruck , 11 Mar 1919 , somewhere in England I believe.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi All
I am looking for any Masters in or around the region of Pontlottyn, Rhumney and Bedwellty from the mid 1850's to early 1900's.
Mary Gertude Masters b.December 1859....I did find her on the 1881 census in Bedwellty and I have her birth registration in Gelligaer reg. Dist. would like to find the parish record to see if it reads the same as the actual reg.
also James Masters b. 1808 and his wife Harriet (Chard) Masters b. 1812...I have found them in the 1881 and 1891 census and I am sure they must have died before the 2001 so would like to find their death records...They were living at #3 Heol & Wynne on the 1891 census
Roberts; After 1881 found them on the 1881 census but by 1891 they were orphans
Bella Jane Roberts b. 1870
Harriet Roberts b. 1872
Arthur Roberts b. 1875
Angelina Roberts b. 1877 All were born in Pontlottyn
Any information on any of these families or connections would be most appreciated..
Carole

>Dear Anne,
I am descended from Mary Anne Addis chr 13 Feb 1869
Crickhowell ,Brecon , I know of someone doing a one name study on Addis
name. Her name is Sonia Addis-Smith and she will help I am sure.
The Addis's in Hereford are very likely to be related to your James
Addis. Daphne Helmore has helped me get back to a Thomas Ades circa 1590
married in Sellack Hereford.
Contact me off the list if you want details.

Thanks Dawn for the information on what film I need, will visit the FDS in
the near future, only open a few days a week in Pa.

Anne,
This is the only ADDIS family I can find in the 1851 British Census:
ADDIS Daniel, h, m, 43, horsekeeper, GLS Thornbury, Pen y Fon, /f43/p14
ADDIS Elizabeth, w, m, 43, , BRE Llangorse , Pen y Fon, /f43/p14
ADDIS William, s, u, 12, scholar, BRE Crickhowell, Pen y Fon, /f43/p14
ADDIS Ann, d, u, 10, scholar, BRE Cwmdu, Pen y Fon, /f43/p14
SLACK Charles, ld, u, 29, horsekeeper, WAR Birmingham, Pen y Fon,
/f43/p14
WILLIAMS Charles , ld, u, 45, horsekeeper, HEF Malechurch, Pen y Fon,
/f43/p14
Your James seems to have gone on walkabout. You might want to check the
films for the 1841 census. it is not indexed so you would have to order
the film from your closest Latter Day Saints Family History Center. For
$3.75 you can view the film at their facilities using their equipment for
30-60 days. Here is the film no. you would need:
Title Census returns for Llangattock, 1841-1891
Authors Great Britain. Census Office (Main Author)
Note Location
Film
1841 FHL BRITISH Film
464299
You would probably want to look through Llangattock, Llangynidr,
Llanelly, Crickhowell enumeratiosn districts, all which are on this film.
I hope this aides you in your search.
Sincerely,
Dawn Perry-Taft

Hello
Sorry if I'm going over old ground. I only joined yesterday.
Rhyd not rhydd does mean a crossing place, a ford. Blew could be the plural
of blewyn which can mean a blade of grass.....grassy ford??
Just a guess.

Dear Brenda & other listers.' Rhydd y Blew' Many years ago when I walked with
my grandfather Phillip Thomas of Nantyglo, popularly known as 'Phill Amen' -
he was a lay preacher, he would frequently say, when we were climbing a hill
or hurrying "Have a 'blew' boy bach, have a blew" I always understood that
Rhydd y Blew meant a 'Watering and resting place.'
The sign on the inn suggests this. Cheers Ray.
