Hi again Janice,
Thanks for the information. I forgot to mention that Mrs. Beasley's is
actually in Redmond, not Bend. It is on Hwy 97 which connects the two towns.
But it IS near the airport in Redmond. Bend has a small, private type
airport, but Redmond's airport is a larger one where you can get the
commuter planes to Portland and San Franscisco.
I will certainly make a point next time I am in there to pass on your
message. In fact, next time some friends from Prineville want to meet for
lunch in Redmond (it is about half way between Prineville and Bend which are
45 minutes apart) I'll suggest we go there.
All for now,
Sharon

Hi,
Finding the marriage certificate of Ebenezer Hughes to Elizabeth Morgan
would give you both their father's names and occupations. Have you
written the Record Office yet for this information?
Best wishes is your searches and New Year,

I seem to remember someone requesting a Maddy lookup of some sort.
Can't remember which list but it is either Blaenau Gwent, Monmouthshire
or Powys. Sorry about the 'crossposting', but if it helps someone what
the heck!

Miner.

Don't have any connections, but presumably you know of http://www.hales.org
?
I found my Hales ancestors there back many centuries!

Does anyone have a connection with the HALE family in East Dean, Gloucester.
I have managed to find what I think are my family from that area. My great grandfather was MOSES HALE(born 1849) who was married to MARTHA DAVIES (1878) and they lived in Abertillery and from them down I have most of the information. However on finding MOSES, who was born in East Dean, I think he had another family in East Dean! Married to an Elizabeth 1851 and they had 4 children - ROSA MARY, FANNY, MARY ANN and SARAH JANE.
I also found that he had two sisters ELIZABETH (I think married to JAMES ADAMS) and MARY (I think married to a CHARLES TEAGUE), and two brothers JOHN and THOMAS HALE.
Their parents were JOHN HALE 1817 from East Dean, and ELIZA SMITH 1819 from Lydbrook.
Many thanks and a Very Happy Christmas to one and all.

Yep,
In Australia all censu information taken in the past ahs been destroyed.
This year a push by genealogists saw a last question on the census that
asked if the individual was in agreeance to allowing the info to be kept.
As it was me that filled out the census in our household, of course everyone
was in agreeance!!
We have precious little access to records over here so everything helps

Let me add a Canadian perspective to paying for the 1901 Census info. The
information in the 1901 Canadian Census will not be released in any way,
shape, or form. It will remain buried in StatsCan, unaccessible to
historians or genealogists. In fact, "they" are even considering destroying
the information!!!! What a travesty. Pray that such political correctness
never strikes Britain.
While I normally don't like paying for any genealogical info, I'm not going
to complain about paying for this. At least there's something to pay
for.........

Hello Les
You and I are cursed with a very common surname mate, as common as dog
droppings!!
I am having lots of trouble finding the marriage of my GGrandfather and also
the
siblings of my grandfather and to a lesser extent, those of my father.
My father emmigrated to Aussie when I was 9 so I did not meet many of my
line.
As for the info you supplied, there is nothing there that rings a bell mate.
I think most of my BMD's were registered in Monmouth, Bedwellty, Crickhowell
and Abergavenny districts.
Once I find a few more twigs...well...you never know.
I shall file your email away in case ....you know....the future
All the best for the Festive season

Let me add a Canadian perspective to paying for the 1901 Census info. The
information in the 1901 Canadian Census will not be released in any way,
shape, or form. It will remain buried in StatsCan, unaccessible to
historians or genealogists. In fact, "they" are even considering destroying
the information!!!! What a travesty. Pray that such political correctness
never strikes Britain.
While I normally don't like paying for any genealogical info, I'm not going
to complain about paying for this. At least there's something to pay
for.........
Esther (Edmonton, Alberta)
Thanks Gwynne, and Mike Short.
I agree that we shouldn't have to pay for the right to look at these
records, afterall it is all our property, particularly what relate to our
own families.
New Labour/New Tory, what's the difference?

I am hoping that somebody out there will be able to look up the 1901 census
entries for Thomas and Mary Lewis, both in their late 30's and their family
at 6 Mount Pleasant, Penybont, Abertillery, and Thomas and Amelia Lewis,
both in their late 60's at Twistles Row, in Tranch/Sowhill, Pontypool .
Does anyone think they will be able to help when the Census comes out?

This site is the Swansea History Web, and contains a lot of information on
"children as early industrial workers" in South Wales with drawings, maps,
pictures, personal accounts (from some of the child workers), etc.
There's a good 1700s? map of the main centres of iron and steel-making works
in S. Wales, including Monmouth, under (Merthyr), "Who made iron in Wales".
Esther (Edmonton, Alberta)
Pat - you may be asking too much asking for someone to look up the 1901 when
it comes out. Only because it's going to be on-line and you have to pay by
credit card to look at the 1901 census at the rate of £0.50 per entry and
£0.75 per page to download. And if your family goes on to two pages - that's
£1.50. It's outrageous as far as I am concerned. There will be a copy in
libraries I believe and there are discussions re organisations like family
history societies. The only saving grace is that at least there will be easy
access. But I will need to do a couple of hundred searches. There is a demo
on line now with explanation on pricing. Go to
www.census.pro.gov.uk/census_movie/site_tour.html
Mike Short
Webmaster/ List Administrator - I promise not to start another debate on
viruses - but it is worth pointing out
Suspect all Email addresses starting with an underscore
Never download an attachment with a .pif extension (why would anyone send you
a DOS file uninvited)
Suspect all .scr (screensaver files)
Be very careful of .exe (program Files)
Get an up to date virus checker and keep it up to date! (I've had two free
updates from Norton this week alone)
Sorry Webmaster - won't do it again - honest (list members - please don't
reply but go to virus site like Norton (Symantec) or MacAfee - it really is
not worth running no virus checker, an out of date one or a poor one)
