Hi , you are not feeble minded. Read this;-
" Under the ...Local Government Act, 1894, Beaufort was created a civil
Parish from THE MONMOUTHSHIRE PORTION OF LLANGATTOCK CIVIL PARISH IN
EBBW VALE URBAN DISTRICT. also
The Ecclesiastical Parish was formed in 1843 from the civil Parishes of
Llangattock and Llangynidr in Breconshire and Aberystruth and Bedwellty in
Monmouthshire."
So it depends on what year you want to find which register is in which
county. What a mess. We have to live with it.
Actually in spite of LDS Monmouthshire has always been in Wales. For admin
convenience it was sometimes "borrowed "by England.
Hope this helps at least you now know you are not losing your wits.

A little help for the feeble minded if you please!
I want to order Bishop's Transcripts searching for the Birth and Marriage
entries for my g-g-g grandfather Charles Cullen, abt. 1810.
I find an entry in the Beaufort, MON Wesleyan Methodist Parish Register
that show Charles' first son James' baptism in 1837 in Beaufort. (I know
this info is correct, because Charles then went on to act as a lay
minister in that church in 1844). MY QUESTION is that when the clergy
noted the original parish Charles CULLEN came from, it was noted as
Llangattock, Brecon.
I have gone to the LDS site to get the BT's film numbers and they tell me
there are separate BT' s for Llangaddock, Brecon, Wales and Llangattock,
Monmouth, Eng. I don't know where to begin given the combination I have
to work with of English town name and Welsh county on the baptismal
record.
Has someone some advice before I go off on this fishing expedition?
Thank you for your kindness in advance,

hello Barbara,
LLWDCOED is on the outskirts of ABERDARE, Mid Glam.
It is the situation of the crematorium.
I hope that this answers your question
Brian
It's beside Aberdare which isn't to far from Merthyr Tydfil.
If you go into multiMAP.com you can see exactly where Llwydcoed is.
Regards
Shaun

Hi Listers,
A short while ago, look-ups on the 1851 Brecon CD were mentioned on this
list.
I would be very grateful if a list member could look for James VEATER,
aged about 32, there. (The spelling of the name could also be VATER or
VATOR.)
James Parfitt VEATER was born in Farmborough, Somerset c.1819. In 1841, he
was living in Brynmawr. He was married to Dinah Frances BABER in February
1841 at Llanelly in the county of Brecon.
In 1861, he was living at Blaina, with his second wife Mary Ann and
1-year-old daughter Ann.
By 1881, he was a widower and living with his brother Thomas in Hope
Stret, Blaina. He was still in Hope Street at the time of the 1891 census.
I would be very pleased if James VEATER could be spotted on the 1851
Brecon CD but would be equally delighted if any other VEATERs were
discovered there.

Hallo everyone,
Does anybody have access to the book' Parish Registers of Wales' or 'Non Conformist Registers of Wales'. I believe that there is now a 2nd edition published recently.
I am still trying to find the whereabouts of the burial registers for TRINITY CHURCH, Pontywaun.(Independent/Congregational) They were not in the 1st edition and I wondered if there is any mention in the new book.
I have tried to order the books thru my local library but they are unable to help.
Does anyone know how much they would cost to buy ?

Hello
I have an ancestor who was recorded as the publican of the Rising Sun Inn in
Blaenavon at the time of his death in 1864.
His name was James GAUT and the record of his death has his surname spelt
GANT in error.
Does anyone have a Kellys' directory of that period, or any other reference
material? I am interested to learn what else I can about James and the pub.

Hi Everyone,
Is there anyone out there who would be kind enough to look for some
information for me?
My Great Grandfather Henry MARSHALL (believed to have been born in West
Dean c. 1851) was living at:
9 Blaenselsig Row, Glamorgan at the time of the 1881 census, also there was
his bride to be Sarah JONES and other members of her family.
I believe that shortly after the census they were married and had a son, my
Grandfather, Albert Henry MARSHALL who I think was born in May 1881 or 1882.
I have found reference to an Albert Henry MARSHALL being registered in
Pontypridd District in 1881 Volume 11a Page Number 441. Is it possible for
someone to check the register to see who the parents were?
In return I am able to visit the Leicester Record Office regularly and could
do look ups there for anyone, and I also manage to get to the Northampton
Record Office occasionally.
Many thanks
Bernice

Am researching great-uncle Thomas Rossiter who married Phillipa Moss around 1900/1920 at Newbridge. Would appreciate any information on this Moss/Rossiter family as little is known. Thanks in advance. Pat

Am trying to trace details of Abercarn Tinplating Works as my great-uncle, Herbert Lewis, was said to be manager thereof in 1920-30. Would also like information on this Herbert, son of John, stonemason for Lanover estate, as it has been too hard to find anything from Australia - born about 1890. Thank you for any assistance. Pat

Hello. I am interested in any information on Jeffries, monumental stone masons in Abercarn, near Newbridge. Would there be any records in existence to help me find the location of a headstone made by them in the 1930's. Grateful for any assistance. Pat.

Hello Gwynneth
It is Mynyddmaen. Have a look at Bryan Morgan's "Kelly's Directory" site:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~familyalbum/kdyslwyn.htm
It gives a good description of the area.

I am trying to locate my grandfather, THOMAS EVANS, in the 1871 census. His family
(wife and daughter) were living in Newcastle-Emlyn CMN at that time. When he
married, Thomas gave his residence as Rhymney, occupation coal miner.
If anyone can check the 1871 census for Rhymney and find Thomas living with another
family, perhaps as a boarder, I would very, very much appreciate the help.
Sincerely,
Judy Gray

Hi Listers,
I don't know if I'm asking for the impossible or not,
if so I apologize. I have found my GG grandparents
Richard and Margaret MORGAN in the 1851 census. I
would like to know if there were any older children
who had left home before 1851. From this census it
appears that they were living in MON county in 1841.
Tred?fyn is given as the place of birth for both a 12
and a 9 year-old child in the 1851 census. I have
been told that Tred?fyn (the ? is mine) is most likely
Trevethin. Does anyone have access to the 1841 census
for this area? I would greatly appreciate any
information that can be provided.
Thank you,
Nan Ramsey
