Not sure if this is of any help and I'm sure of my directions, but my
greatgrandfather and mother were married, in 1870, at the Siloam Chapel
Llannelly in the distric Crickhowell. I have been at the spot, the church is
gone, and there is a major highway next to the churchyard which consists only
of a few broken stones. I obtained the certificate from the Blaenau gwent
district registrar.

Hello Pat - my name is Chris Adams; I have lived in Blaina all my life until
about 18 months ago, when I moved to live in Crosskeys. My partner has lived
in the Crosskeys/Abercarn area all her life, so I passed your mail on to her
(Jill) and she asked her dad Bryan Edwards, who used to be the baker in the
area.
* Herbert Lewis - he has heard of him, but all I can tell you is that
he thinks that he (Herbert) was originally from the 'Gwyddern' or 'Rhysyg'
area of Abercarn.
* John Powell - Jill actually used to live in one of the lock-keepers
cottages! The cleaner where we work (Solectron, but formerly Nortel
Networks) thinks that John Powell's daughter or granddaughter lives in
Risca, as he has seen her recently!
* Fron Haul - from Jill's dad's description I know these two houses;
they are on the main round just South of the 'Trecelyn' roundabout in
Newbridge. Apparently the more southerly of the two was occupied by Mr. &
Mrs. Williams, who both passed away in their 90's last year.
* Cwm-Dows farm - apparently the people who now live here had
relatives called Brimble, who used to own a furniture shop in Blackwood.
Hopefully this will all be of some help, or at least interest!
Best regards,
Chris Adams

I would be so grateful for a luck up in the 1861 Census for a Jonathan
Bowen either in Rhymney or Bedwelty or thereabouts. His wife wuld be
Elizabeth and they would be 37.
Their children would be David age 6 Evan age 2 and maybe Emma age 14.
Thank you so much
Carolyn

Hi All,
On the 2nd of July this year, I received a mail from Barbara Banham re
HORLER Strays in Monmouthshire.
One of the items that she had found was a 1891 census ref. to a Mary A.
Horler aged 8, living with her Mother and Stepfather at 6 Hill Street,
Abertillery. Up until this mailing I did not know that she existed, Mary
would have been my Great Grand Aunt.
Has anyone come across any Marriage or Death references to her??
Thanks,
Tony Meighan

G'day,
In the 1891 census there appears to be no mention of Portland St, would anyone have any idea just when this area was built. Researching the Bullet (or variation) family.
Thank You, Mal.
