Does anyone know if there is a Welsh meaning to this property named Brista Fach or Bristol Fach and if there are any such named properties in the Pontllanfraith area which may even sound like these names above? Thanks very much.

Hello People! Would anyone know if there is a WW1 war memorial,at or near Pontllanfraith, Monmouthshire listing names of Soldiers? Or possibly someone has a history book listing the names of soldiers killed in action who came from the Pontllanfraith area prior to 1914? Thanks for any kindness!

Hello People. Would someone be able to point me in the right direction to find out about THE SOLDIERS SETTLEMENT BOARD? My primary interest is in the Welsh from Pontllanfraith who left for Alberta, Canada circa 1925. Thanks so much.

There is currently a White Hart pub on George Street, Pontypool and I note
a White Hart pub listed for George Street, Trevethin in the 1881. That
seems to point to the George St being the one in Pontypool (if it's the
same pub!)

Hello
I posted a message in the last few days requesting the name of a Church
of England Church in Tredegan, Bedwelty. I very nice lady in Australia
who used to live in the area e mailed me and gave me some information
which may lead to the name. She said that the locals called it The
Cathedral of the Valleys and that it was on Church street. Also that the
churchgoers were buried in the large cemetery on Tredegar Road at the
other end of the town.
If anyone knows the offical name of this Church of Cemetery. I am
trying to find out when my grandfather John Francis died. I know that he
died around l9l2 but I was hoping that records would give me more
information.
Once again thanks to all for your help.

Hello List!
Does someone have the 1851 & 1861 censuses for Newport and Pontypool? Just
received info that the GRO has two possibilities listed for us on a Thomas
HARRIS b Aug 1850 in both Newport and Pontypool. This is what we have:
HARRIS, Thomas b 1816 Wales
" Elizabeth (Jones) b 1820 Wales
" Thomas b. 13 Aug 1850 Wales
In addition they had the following sons. (The towns with ?s next to their
names are GRO info.)
HARRIS, William Benjamin b 22 Mar 1852 Wales (? Newport,
Pontypool,
Llanelly &
Abergaveny)
" David b April 1860 Wales (?
Llanfyllin)
Daniel George b Sept 1863 Wales (? Bedwellty)
By any chance is there a list of Monmouthshire IGI Batch Nos. online that we
might check?
Thanks in advance for any assistance provided.

Hi everyone.
I hope that your weather is better than ours have been. We are just
coming out of windchill factor of -47c.
I was wondering if someone would let me know the Church of England
Churches and Cemeteries in the Tredegan, Bedwelty, Wales' area.
I have never been able to check out when my grandfather John Francis
passed away but I have discovered that he came from Jersey, Channel
Islands and his parents Louisa Francis nee Short and John Francis came
from Dorset, England. Both his parents were members of the Church of
England so I am assuming that he was. I have not found him in the
records at the Mormon Church for the time period in which I had been
told he died. My mother was born in l9l0 and I know he was alive at
that time. And passed away prior to my grandmother moving to Canada
with her children which I thought was January 19l3 . That date may be
wrong.
I would appreciate any help . Thank you
Linda
Hello from a newcomer,
I would also be interested in an address list for the Nantyglo area 1840 -
1890. I am just beginning to search for the family of my gt.grandfather
DAVID GRIFFITHS, born in Nantyglo in1856. No more information yet other
than he moved to the Rhondda.
Cheers,
Philippa

Hello Jocelyn
In 1881 Abersychan comes under the parish of Trevethin. You might want to
try putting "Abersychan" in birthplace and "Trevethin" in census place,
then when the entries come up, scroll down to the youngest child (b.1880/1)
and then go into Neighbours. This is the way I do it and it seems to
work!!

Hello Pat
I don't know about burial registers, but Gwent FHS has indexed the MIs for
Risca - St Mary, Bethany Baptist, Old Moriah, Babel Chapel - all on one
fiche No. 087 which you can buy for about 1GBP from them. All details on
their web site: http://welcome.to/Gwent.FHS

I am having great difficulty in gaining access to any of the
Abersychan inhabitants in the 1881 CD Rom census. I'd
like to do a 'crawl' of all residents. No matter what name
I use to gain access to Abersychan I am always turned
down. I have gained access to Trevethin and then spent
some time going through neighbours search facility but
again without success.
Could anybody advise me how to go about this? Yes,
I'm not really with it regarding this computer lark yet!
Your help would be much appreciated.
Thanks, from Jocelyn Griffiths, Milford Haven,

Hallo everyone,
Being new to the list, I have been sitting watching and you all seem a nice helpful lot. Maybe you can help me. I hope i joined the right list, I have found family that lived in the Risca area. I have traced some of my relatives and know that they are buried in what is known as RISCA OLD CEMETARY. I have found the previous generation to these and have applied for some of their death certs. Can someone tell me if there are registers available for burials for this cemetary and if there are how do you go about getting a search done if you don't live near to the area.
