STOKES/DAVIS
by Belinda & Dave Savadge
Hi Listers,
I am new to the list and I was wondering if someone could help me. I am
looking for a Henry Stokes that at one time that may have lived in Stoke of
Trent/Staffordshire, England.
Henry was at one time a Methodist Minister in Wales. He may have even been
born in Wales.
He was married to Ann Davis, and had the following children: David Edward
Stokes born 1852 (came to the U.S. about 1885), Ted Stokes (stayed in
England) and a daughter Elizabeth Stokes born 20 Dec 1862 (came to the U.S.
with brother David). Ann Davis Stokes died during childbirth with Elizabeth.
Henry Stokes later remarried (unknown) and had daughters: Ethel Stokes and
Anna Stokes.
I know that sometime in the between 1910 - 1930, Elizabeth went to Stoke on
Trent, Staffordshire, England to visit relatives, but I don't know which
relatives. This has been a very hard line to trace.
Elizabeth Stokes is my husband's great grandmother. She came to the United
States about 1885 with her brother David E. Stokes. They settled in
Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey, U.S.A. She has one daughter still
living, she is 93 years old and has been blind since she was an infant. I
am trying to find some information on her mother's family for her before
she leaves this world.
Any help that anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. I live in
Jefferson, Georgia, USA.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to read this.
