[AYR] High Grange Farm/McMath Butcher, Main Street, Maybole
1/31/2003, 9:54:57 AM
I am a former Ayrshire Lass myself but have a friend here in the freezing,
snowy East who has made an enquiry to me about High Grange.
Was or is High Grange still a farm- somewhere in the Maybole area? Would it
have been somewhere in the 1890s - early 1900?
Also is there still a Butchers shop in Maybole Main Street called McMath -
it may be James or John?
Does Maybole have a cemetery? and are the records available for it
Please can SKS help me on these points?
Can't help you with the farm name or butchers shop. If someone with more
local knowledge of Maybole doesn't give the answer I can find out for you,
get back to me - I don't really know the Maybole area very well but yes
Maybole does have a cemetry. I have some of the earlier inscriptions at
home if you want me to check any names (mostly pre 1855).
