It is with sadness that we,the family, announce the passing of Mary H.
Berger, 94, on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care,
Born in Crosshouse, Ayrshire, Scotland, she was a daughter of the late
Isaac and Agnes (Clark) Stewart.
Mary was past president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 15, Ladies
Auxiliary. In earlier years, she enjoyed ballroom dancing and continued
to dance until recently. Mary also loved knitting and listening to
music. She was a caring mother and loved by all who knew her.
Surviving are sons, Tommy (Carmie), St. John's, N.L., John (Barbara),
Brockville, Ont., Robert (Lynn), Dartmouth, N.S., Billy, Glace Bay,
Michael (Linda), Sydney; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; good
friend, Jeanie, Glace Bay.
Mary, the youngest of 12, was the last surviving member of her immediate
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter C. Berger.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care
and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New
Waterford. A private family funeral service will be held in V.J.
McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, New Waterford, with Rev. Duncan Roach
officiating. Burial will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney,
with a luncheon to follow in the funeral home.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Hospice/Palliative Care
Society of Cape Breton.
