I have heaps of English marriage certificates, but it took me age to
find one in the 1870's. I have now found one that took place 18 1871.
My great grandparents. Joseph Crane Lane and Sarah Jane Hedges. Other
than the usual Certified Copy of an Entry of arraige. Pursuant to the
Marriage Act 1949. (I purchaded t in 1988. It has.
A Reference number. The name of Registration District. Romford. next
line. 1871, Marriage solemnized at the parish Church. next line
Parish of S Andrews, Romford in the County of Essex. then in the body
No 129, When married , November 12th 1871, Name and surname, Joseph Lane
34, Widower, Rank or profession, Private soldier, Royal Scots.
Residence at time of Marriage, Romford. Fathers name and surname,
Charles Lane. Rank or professsion of father, Builder.
Jane Hedges 19 spinster, Romford, father Jospeh Hewdges, Fathers
Then the usual
Married in the Parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of
the Established Church after Bannsby me, W. J. Skilton, Rector.
My gt gh was a widow about 42 and remarried when she was 79 years. She
had nine children asn dworked as a seamstress after she became a widow.
