I would be grateful for any help or advice in identifying my GG Grandmother,
Janet Mclean, who married potter John McHugh in Launceston on 16 Oct 1857.
A Sarah Mclean was a witness. Janet is thought to have been born in
Scotland on 17 Jun 1832 and she died at Leven on 6 Nov 1867 aged just 32.
On 31 Mar 1857 the immigrant ship Broomielaw arrived in Launceston from
Glasgow with some 270 passengers. Included amongst the passengers were three
McLean girls. All three were Presbyterian dairy maids from Scotland with no
education: TAO:14-7 cd 7/12/12

be her and that Sarah and Mary were sisters)
