I have 2 brothers William and Denis BEHAN both transported for manslaughter on
Elphinstone arrived Sydney 1838
Tried on 16 July 1838 - Queens Co. - Life
2. ii. WILLIAM BEHAN, b. 1816, Marborough, Queens County Ireland; d. 3 April 1868, Rawdon
Island (near Port Macquarie NSW). He married (1) CATHERINE HOGAN 1842 in NSW. She died
Abt. 1844. He then married (2) MARY FOSTER (who
arrived in Tasmania on the ship 'ARAB' on 29 April 1836 Then the 'BEE' to
Port Jackson) 8 October 1845 in St Thomas Church, Port Macquarie NSW, daughter of BENJAMIN
FOSTER and ANN GOODARD.
"William was a Splitter, aged 49, living at Rawdon Island. He died, and was buried
on 3 April 1868 by J. F. McCarthey Officiating for the R.C. Priest at Port Macquarie"
