John Walden died at Bathurst on 21 Oct 1875. He and Elizabeth had at
least 13 children, all with details, and their children where known
by the contributor. This I got from a book titled "The Pioneer
Register, Second Edition, Volume 2 compiled by C J Smee and J Selkirk
Provis. I am sure Lesley will agree when I say you need to treat the
information in these books with suspicion and you must confirm the
details by getting BDM certificates etc. This approach should be
used whenever you see information thats been extracted by someone
from another source. For example even the online BDM indexes have
errors. That is, for all direct ancestors try to get every DBM
certificate and church records as appropriate.
Copies of this series are probably available at the Tasmanian Family
History Society or the State Library. If you are not a member I
would recommend you join the Tasmanian Society.
Probably your only chance of finding his parents' names is from his
death certificate, but I note the above book does not state their
names and the NSW BDM index does not either. Therefore I suspect you
may have very little hope/chance of finding out their names, but
still search as the internet is revealing more and more information.
Convict records usually dont reveal parents' names. In some small
number of cases the trial records may do so.
