I am looking for help in finding an emigration record for a James Flinn, (Guildford (3)
1818) leaving Sydney NSW 1826. He was married at the time to Eleanor WALSH (Canada(2)
1810). Outbound records for that period are sparse. I am trying to find when he left and
where he went to. He was an Irish convict that had served his sentence. I would not expect
that he returned to Ireland.
James ran several advertisements in the Sydney newspapers between April - May 1826
requesting that those owing him money pay up as he was leaving the colony at the earliest
opportunity. There appears to be no record of James or Eleanor in any newspaper, or
government document after May 1826. The couple did leave behind in the colony several
children from earlier marriages, John FLYNN, William WALSH, Frances MURPHY, Dennis MURPHY
and Richard MURPHY. William WALSH also ran several advertisements in the Sydney
newspapers between April - May 1826 stating he was leaving but records show he stayed.
Any suggestions would be helpful. Stephen
