Michelle thanks for the reminder. Most do not like rules but these are
necessary to comply with the standards of Roots web.
Hi allAs there are guidelines established by Rootsweb about what is
and isn't acceptable on their mailing lists, I would suggest that if you would like to
share information about a publication for sale, that you include a brief description and
then ask interested people to contact you off list or point them to a website. It is
important that you do not advertise any prices. As a matter of courtesy you should contact
list Admin prior to posting an email of this nature.
This is nothing new, as you will recall our previous list Admin, the late Lesley Uebel,
was always emphatic about this point too. As members of the list we do need to abide by
the Rootsweb guidelines, if you have any quries, please advise. Feel free to make a post
on Claim a Convict facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ClaimaConvict
there are no
restrictions on this page.
The abbreviated guidelines are located at
Messages to the list that are commercial in content or nature. For individuals and
organisations that are classed as non-profit, postings are allowed about new publications
but they MUST NOT include the price. Include a description and a contact e-mail or web
page for further information. Please notify the list Admin for permission first
Please also bear in mind that mailing lists in general do not allow attachments, they are
simply text based.
