Dear Lesley and Listers,
I am looking for any details, and descendants of CHARLES PORT?PORTE who was transported to Australia for 10 years in April 1841.He was from Kent.
Best wishes in your research.
Ann White of the Midas,1825,is my ellusive convict.I know Ann came from Hastings Sussex. Her crime stealing 3 packs of cards, for which she received 7 years. The year Ann arrived, again stole, this time food from a wedding party. This time Ann was sent to the Female Factory at Parramatta.I know no more about this Lady.
I am aware that Ann is listed on the Claim a Convict site, but this is not anyone researching her for family reasons, but to research the history of the house they purchased in Hastings.
My other convicts are,1.Samuel Cordwell/Cardwell a Luddite rioter from Nottingham. He is listed on arrival as Robert. He came 1817,on the Neptune.Samuel received life2.Catherine Walsh/Welch/Welsh,from Meath County, trialed at Clare County.Catherine was transported for 7 years for stealing Sheep.3. Hugh Charles Douglass,Was sent out for 7 years for stealing cheese. He was from Scotland, arrived on the Mangles,1832.
Would love to know what happened to Ann,the other 3 I have history of in Australia.
Thank you for your time.Any suggestions of how I can find out more about Ann.
