I just sent this to the VA-Roots mailing list:
I was lucky enough to purchase an 1865 Congressional publication, about
600-800 pages, called:
REPORT on the JOINT COMMITTEE on THE CONDUCT OF THE WAR at the SECOND
SESSION THIRTY-EIGHTH CONGRESS.
It includes testimonies of Civil War generals on battles including the
Army of the Potomac, Battle of Petersburg, Red River Expedition,
Massacre of Cheyenne Indians, Red River Expedition, etc.
The book scans beautifully, and I'm uploading it to the USGenWeb
Archives. Part one of the Potomac section is online now. You can link to
it from:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/va/civilwar.htm
Or go directly to the file:
ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/va/civilwar/government/ptomc65a.txt
Enjoy! More will be online soon.
