I have no problem at all with passing my story along. Truthfully, the
hard
work and commitment that these people put into sharing genealogy
information is a
gift that words can't convey the true appreciation I feel. Wish the
world was more like these genealogists.
Sincerely,
Stephanie
------- Her message to Rev. Jim Crowe, KY archivist ------
Hello,
I just wanted to send my thanks for the Kentucky Genweb Archives Site.
I found a record submitted by Edith and Glenda Bastin for an
ancestor. This record is very exciting because it details a medical
condition that may possibly be the same rare condition my son has and
other members of my family have including myself. It's a fairly rare
form of spinal arthritis (ankylosing spondylitis) that is genetic. The
record found was a Pension Application for William Asbury Edwards,
Grayson Co, Hart Co, KY.
Thank you so much, it may seem odd to thank someone for a record that
lists a
medical illness, but to us, this may be the family arm that carried the
gene which for research purposes is an amazing find. I sent the
description of the illness to the organization that represents our
disorder, they have sent the description to the head researcher who is
working with the National Institute of Health to find the gene(s) that
cause our illness, very exciting, perhaps this cival war vets
description will enable us to trace a full family line genetically.
(PS, the disease is triggered by bacterial infection, the ancestor
mentions a fever of the spine, very exciting).
Sincerely,
Stephanie Meakin
