One of the candidates for the southeast region cc representative, Ellen
Pack, has publicly stated her intentions to break up the USGenWeb
Archives as they exist now.
Please read her message in the list archives:

In that message, she states:
Quote:
"Please carefully read the entire proposal before forming an opinion.
This
proposal is not designed to end the Archives, but to salvage it, dust it
off, and give it fresh life.
Simply put, it is time for the Archives to be completely dismantled on a
national level, and turned over to the individual states.
One of the most potent arguments in favor of a breakup lies within the
history of individual state projects, as opposed to the history of the
Archives."

If the link above doesn't pull up, you can search the usgenweb-all
mailing list at:
http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl
Search the year 2000 archives for: completely dismantled
Please consider the disruption to our project and this wonderful source
for researchers if Ellen gets elected. I can assure you that she has
tried for four years to discredit the USGenWeb Archives and its
volunteers. She has told me that file managers try to force cc's to
place files in the Archives, but has never given me an example.
If you are eligible to vote in the southest region, I urge you to vote
for David Morgan. Tomorrow is the last day to vote.
Thanks,
Linda
