I hate to be the one to bring up this subject but someone has to mention the
fact.
DIVORCE is a touchy subject with the living. There are many reasons a person
will not want their personal lives annotated on the Internet. Privacy comes
to mind first. Records in the county courthouse are protected by law and
should not be made public through open media. We should exercise caution in
gathering such info for a posterity intent.
Persons seeking such data should take the responsibility to heart and not
infringe upon family matters of such importance when it concerns the living.
Recent divorce history is not a good source for tying into genealogy and
family history in the present tense. This subject matter may be better left
to the individual with a direct need to acquire such information and not used
inadvertently as resource data. At some point in time, there could be a
great disservice to anyone choosing not to be the limelight in public media
forums.
I, personally, will not post any such material or links to my county pages.
That's only my opinion; But what the Hey?
Linda has submitted excellent advice covering archival material and we thank
Keith for the contact information.
